The WB (NYSE: TWX) will relaunch today as TheWB.com. The network which has been defunct since 2006 will be reborn as a digital destination fueled by ad sales. TIME WARNER (NYSE: TWX) believes exclusive destinations for online video is the future, rather than aggregation sites like Hulu and Joost.
MICROSOFT’s (NASD: MSFT) beta version of Internet Explorer 8 includes a feature that lets users block third party ads from appearing on web sites. InPrivateBrowsing also gives users the ability to cover their footprints, by blocking temporary Internet files and cookies that are used to track browsing. This is important because if IE8’s InPrivateBrowsing feature catches on and is used by a majority of the web surfing public, small sites that rely solely on third party advertisements will begin to suffer.
TIVO (NASD: TIVO) managed to turn a profit for the second quarter in a row. However, the subscription DVR company’s stock took a tumble during extended trading yesterday due to dropping subs, increased competition from cable company’s and because its revenue did not meet analyst’s predictions. In a reaction, TiVO is said to be working with Best Buy to bundle DVR’s with high-end televisions.

Cogill, who admits to posting the songs, promptly removed the mp3’s after receiving a notice from the band. The case could be influential in how it deals with bloggers who post leaked, unreleased material unavailable to the public.

As for Microsoft’s latest and greatest..i think um NO. I will wait
a couple of years until all the bugs are worked out. I wish they
would focus more on what the customer really wants, instead of how
to crush their competitors. Sandy Mega Star Media INC Social

Classic, would MS stymie those 3rd party ads had they successfully
acquired yahoo? This is a direct assault at google, or at least
it’s an attempt. Attempts are pretty much all MS is capable of
these days anyway (see Live search cash back). I use firefox
anyway, it’s a shame that more of the mainstream doesn’t either.
What a bunch of losers.
